SEIU, Catholic Healthcare West end stalemate

Written on October 14, 2008

Service Employees International Union-United Healthcare Workers West reached tentative agreement on a four-year contract with Catholic Healthcare West on Sunday afternoon, union officials said Monday.

Roughly 16,000 workers at 35 facilities will be voting on the agreement later this week, said John Borsos, chief negotiator for the union’s hospital division. Catholic Healthcare West has 41 hospitals in California, Arizona and Nevada.

CHW officials were unavailable for comment.

Few details are expected to be released until the deal is ratified by workers, but the proposed contract includes an average wage increase of 26 percent over four years direct lender payday advance online.

Stalled for months as leaders at United Healthcare Workers West fought an internal fight with union management in Washington, workers were poised to authorize strikes 10 days ago.

Negotiators returned to the bargaining table instead. The final session kicked off at 3 p.m. Saturday and ended with agreement 22 hours later.
