Raytheon lands $76M Army contract extension

Raytheon Co. received a four-year, $76 million contract extension of its U.S. Army contract to supply a field artillary data system used in the Iraq war.
Raytheon’s Advanced Field Artillery Tactical Data System is the Army’s key defense against death by friendly fire in Iraq. The system plans, coordinates and controls all mortars, close-air support, naval gunfire, attack helicopters, offensive electronic warfare, artillery cannons, rockets and guided missiles fastcash.
Waltham, Mass.-based Raytheon (NYSE: RTN) is the largest U.S. defense contractor. It employs 72,000 people worldwide and posted sales of $21.3 billion for 2007.
