Casino revenue down by 14 percent

Revenue at Colorado casinos dropped 14 percent in July, compared to the same month in 2007, according to statistics released Tuesday by the Colorado Division of Gaming.

Limited-stakes gambling is allowed in three Colorado mountain towns: Central City, Black Hawk and Cripple Creek.

Adjusted gross proceeds for all three towns amounted to $65.65 million, down from $76.54 million in July 2007.

For the individual towns:

• Central City’s revenue plummeted 20.39 percent to $6.08 million.

• Black Hawk took in $45.7 million, down 14.82 percent payday advance lenders.

• Cripple Creek’s casinos tallied $13.85 million, an 9 percent dip.
